Synopsis

Sandrone is from Milan, but he left his hometown—and a past he cannot escape—long ago. After a traumatic event that left a deep mark on him, he sought refuge in Catania, a harsh yet captivating city where he hopes to disappear into the chaos. But Sandrone is never truly alone: the Gorilla, his second personality, lives within him.

A primitive, instinctive and ferocious alter ego, the Gorilla emerges whenever Sandrone's defences begin to crumble. Torn between these two selves, Sandrone moves through a sleepless noir Catania, a city of contrasts, tension and humanity. He is never able to rest for long, driven by an inner fire that constantly pushes him into action—more thoughtful and inclined to dialogue by day, direct and instinctive by night.

Whenever Sandrone fades, the Gorilla takes control. And when the Gorilla rests, Sandrone returns. It is a relentless cycle that makes true rest impossible. Neither of them ever fully disappears. Their coexistence is exhausting, dangerous and inescapable.

Hired for what seems like a routine assignment—providing security at a party hosted by a wealthy and influential Catanian family—Sandrone expects nothing more than a few uneventful hours and an easy paycheck. But during the reception, the host's daughter vanishes. She is later found brutally murdered alongside her boyfriend. The authorities quickly close the case, dismissing it as a crime of passion. Consumed by guilt and driven by a sense of unease that neither he nor the Gorilla can ignore, Sandrone begins to investigate.

He becomes the only person willing to search for the truth, confronting a hostile environment where anyone who is different—in thought, condition or identity—is seen as a problem. And he is different twice over.
