In Kouandé, in northern Benin, the protagonists are also the authors: children who film their own story.

Synopsis
Using the language of participatory documentary, a small crew composed of sound recordist Davide and camera operators Eleonora and Alessandro, with the cultural mediation of Elisa, travels from south to north across Benin, the ancient Kingdom of Dahomey, a land rich in history and multiple cultures.
Across five chapters, the film attempts to give shape to an overwhelming beauty alongside its irreducible contradictions. The freedom to look and listen makes it possible to discover the country and identify the secret behind more than 40 years of peace in Benin: interreligious dialogue.
School is Benin’s wager on the future, in a country with a very young population full of ambition and hope. Yet dark shadows also loom over Bariba children accused of witchcraft.
A source of hope comes from the encounter with the young residents of the Internat de Kouandé, halfway between a boarding school and an orphanage run by Augustinian nuns, offering a safe refuge for children and girls coming mostly from impoverished rural villages in northern Benin.
